At Yoga Therapy Pittsburgh, our mission is to promote holistic wellness through following a yogic lifestyle. We believe in the transformative power of yoga therapy, traditional talk therapy rooted in mindfulness techniques, and energy healing to support integrated physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
We find the best results from combining the below services and using a multi-modal approach to healing. We recommend an initial consult in yoga therapy or talk therapy, which will likely lead to exploring other combinations.
There is no one or right way to heal--so let's find YOUR way.

The Yamas and Niyamas are the first two branches of an 8-limbed system developed by the "Father of Yoga" - Patanjali - and described in "The Yoga Sutras" developed prior to 200 CE. They teach us how to live with integrity and balance through kindness, humility, respect, self-awareness, and more.

Whether yoga asana (physical postures) resonates with you or not, it is important to keep the body moving. We only have one physical vessel in this lifetime, and it's a complex system that requires maintenance to work efficiently. Movement also builds our capacity for self-love and self-awareness.

The root of conflict between people is very often misunderstanding. It's easy to filter our words in order to protect ourselves (or others); but that means we're communicating through fear. By practicing self-love, we learn to communicate truthfully and authentically, which is the key to breeding respect.

Bhakti Yoga is the practice of devotion and service. You don't need to have a "god" or higher power, but finding purpose and serving that purpose gives us direction and structure. When we consistently offer help for its intrinsic value, we also diminish the powers of selfishness, egoism, scarcity, resentment, grief, and avoidance.

If we cannot radically accept our current circumstances, regardless of how challenging they are, we will be in a constant state of reaching for something outside of us to feel happy. We are fully responsible for our own state of mind. Finding the lesson in everything we do creates an attitude of gratitude, which leads to contentment.

The only constant in life is change. Setting goals and standards for operating keeps us focused and motivated. However, if we cling too tightly to one way, we lose perspective, and the ability to accept a variety of circumstances as equally valid. We are each on an individual path in life, and there is no right way, or right time - it simply IS.
